To promote Climate action in the education field Indian Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has introduced a ‘Centre for Climate Studies’. The officials reported that the new centre will be a Centre of Excellence at IIMK. The main focus of the courses under the Centre will be on CLIMATE which represents Climate Leadership, Internationalization and Management for policy Advancement, Technology and Enterprise.
Climate researchers and scientists worldwide have warned that the ongoing human-induced activities worsening climate change are pushing the entire planet toward doomsday. The consequences that the planet is witnessing in the form of climate disasters such as floods, tsunamis, wildfires, avalanches, and landslides are just the beginning. But, there must be an adequate system and stringent policies in place to minimize the loss these disasters can have on each sector of the economy. The Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of UNDR Mami Mizutori highlighted a similar approach and said, “Disasters can be prevented, but only if countries invest the time and resources to understand and reduce their risks”.
Ahmedabad has taken one more step toward achieving sustainable development in the urban areas as the city has joined the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. The announcement was made after the C40 committee approved the joining application as Ahmedabad becomes the tenth city from South-West Asia and the sixth from India to join the group.
A new report released by the OECD Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development reveals that the developed countries have failed to fulfil their commitment to allocate $100 billion by 2020 to the developing nations for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects.
On the sidelines of the UN Ocean Conference 2022 held in Lisbon, Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad had a bilateral discussion with the Member of the House of Lords of the UK Lord Zac Goldsmith. The discussion was focused on several environmental issues and the preparations for the COP27 climate summit which is going to be held in Egypt in November this year.

On 11h November 2022, the sixth day of the COP27 at Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt, the COP27 President Sameh Shoukry and the United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry co-hosted a special session on “Advancing Adaptation Action in Africa”.
