On the sidelines of the UN Ocean Conference 2022 held in Lisbon, Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad had a bilateral discussion with the Member of the House of Lords of the UK Lord Zac Goldsmith. The discussion was focused on several environmental issues and the preparations for the COP27 climate summit which is going to be held in Egypt in November this year.
Egyptian Environment Minister Fouad emphasised the need to work on and escalate the climate action targets and commitments agreed upon during the Glasgow COP26 summit. She stressed the Biodiversity roadmap which was prepared back in COP14 Conference on Biological Diversity. There is a need to have a comprehensive process and strategy to conserve natural resources amidst the escalating climate change crisis.
Further addressing the issue Fouad expressed that Egypt is going to partner with the UK in developing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies focused on the agriculture sector that will be launched at the next climate conference.
