Ahmedabad becomes a C40 member to escalate urban climate action goals

Ahmedabad has taken one more step toward achieving sustainable development in the urban areas as the city has joined the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. The announcement was made after the C40 committee approved the joining application as Ahmedabad becomes the tenth city from South-West Asia and the sixth from India to join the group.

The C40 group works to boost climate adaptation and mitigation projects and to promote sustainable policies in the urban landscape to improve the lifestyle of the citizens. As per the released statement, C40 will partner with Ahmedabad to develop climate action projects and help in escalating them effectively with the shared experience.

C40 Executive Director Mark Watts welcomed Ahmedabad to the group and said, “I would like to extend a warm welcome to the city of Ahmedabad to the C40 network, among the leaders in the global climate movement." He further applauded the efforts of the city in addressing climate change.  “Ahmedabad has taken bold steps to address global warming and we look forward to working with the city’s people and leaders to learn and further accelerate climate action,” he said.
