According to an Observer Research Foundation assessment on climate change mitigation among the Group of 20 countries, India and Italy are leading the race, followed by Indonesia and the United Kingdom.
During the recent India Energy Week (IEW) 2023 in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India's energy consumption has considerably grown and would reach 11% of world demand, up from 5% today.
"The G20 economies account for the lion's share of global income and hence have the financial capacity to drive the green transformation necessary to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius," according to the ORF Report.
According to the research, India received a 0.76 on the Climate Action Performance Index, which rates every country's climate change action, with 1 being the highest score. According to this data, India and Italy are the leaders, followed by Indonesia and the United Kingdom, then Turkey, France, and Germany.
India has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Development Triangle Joint Business Council to further encourage the adoption of energy efficiency and sustainability practises in the area, according to Asian Light.
