Strict regulations once again have been imposed in view of increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR. Talking about the figures, the AQI recorded yesterday was 407 at 4 pm in the national capital. Due to this instructions have been issued to implement Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Sunday. Along with this, there will be a complete ban on non-essential construction works in the area.
The sub-committee for the implementation of GRAP held a meeting on Sunday to review the air quality in the area. It was reported that in the last 24 hours, further deterioration in the air quality was recorded. It was decided in the meeting that, apart from Stages I and II of GRAP, Stage III should be implemented in Delhi-NCR to prevent air pollution.
The pollution level in Delhi has reached the 'severe' category after 4 November. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board, an AQI of 410 was recorded at Anand Vihar station at around 10 pm last night, which falls in the severe category. At the same time, the average air quality index, i.e., AQI 370, of the national capital was recorded, which falls in the very-poor category.
These works will be banned in GRAP Stage 3:
There will be a ban on construction and sabotage in Delhi-NCR
Exemption to projects of railway, metro, airport, ISBT, national security, defence, and national importance.
Work that does not cause pollution like plumbing, interior decoration, electrical and carpentry, etc. will also be exempted.
Brick kilns, hot mix plants, and stone crushers will not run.
State governments can decide to ban BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel cars
In industrial areas that do not have PNG infrastructure and supplies, industries that do not use the approved fuel can operate only five days a week.
