Every year by the time of November, Delhi-NCR starts gasping for fresh air. Pollution in the capital region has now reached extremely dangerous levels. Pollution also affects the health of school children, about which both the administration and the parents are worried.
Despite the alarming level of pollution, schools are still open in Delhi, regarding which the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sent a notice to the Delhi government. Questions are being raised about whether schools will be closed in view of increasing pollution.
In a press briefing, Environment Minister Gopal Rai informed that CAQM is monitoring all these things. Advance monitoring is being done for 3 days, and things are decided according to this monitoring. If the AQI is more than 450 then the schools will be closed as per GRAP 4, and that too will be predictable three days in advance.
