CM Arvind Kejriwal said that this is an “important milestone” as this is the beginning of a new era in the transport sector in Delhi. He also announced that there will be the procurement of more electric buses in the future and they will be replacing the old fleet of DTC buses in the capital.

He highlighted that this is a landmark step as these e-buses will help in controlling vehicular emissions in the city. The new addition to Delhi’s public transport is a noiseless and zero-emission vehicle and has a capacity to run for 120 kilometres with a full charge that takes 1-1.5 hours only.

This first e-bus is launched to run on a 27-kilometre route starting from Indraprastha depot. The CM also announced that the capital will be getting 2,000 such electric buses in future and 300 will be procured by April 2022.
