Uttar Pradesh's JBM Auto Limited has manufactured the electric buses, and the Bangalore Municipality Corporation (BMC) operate them. About 90 electric e-buses were launched at the Kengeri depot, and each had a capacity of 33 passengers. The BMTC will reportedly install charging points for the buses at each of the stops and install three such depots in total.
Electric buses (e-buses) will be a big bane for mass public mobility in the future. It is not only a cleaner and greener alternative to taxis and conventional buses, e-bus is its extremely low operational cost and easy maintenance. Although the source of energy may be an issue in this green initiative since it will be provided by National Thermal Power Corporation.
