The UP government announced that the weather forecast system in Uttar Pradesh will now work at the local level. This means that the prediction of the mass of every village and locality will be different. It is often seen that it rains somewhere in the same city and is sunny in the other as the weather pattern usually changes only in a 5-10 km radius. The weather forecast is still issued for the entire state or district only hence this scenario is about to change.
Ashish Tiwari, Secretary, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, said that with the help of the Center, the UP government is preparing a State Action Plan for Climate Change. The plan mentioned that studying the upcoming weather risk at the local level can be reduced. Under this, micro agro-climatic zones will be created in 58 thousand gram panchayats of UP.
The state government is setting up a separate plan for each district, which will come very soon. At the district level, the parameters to measure carbon emissions and adaptation will be included. The plan aims to increase the use of electric vehicles, energy efficiency of industries and solar energy in transportation. Emphasis will be given to purchasing energy-efficient refrigerators, fans, ACs etc. with low power consumption, change in the farming pattern, increasing the use of hydrogen energy, Use of biomass and recycling of waste etc will also be focused on in the plan.
