Delhi’s 10-year Climate Action Plan

The Delhi government is gearing up to implement a strategic climate change action plan with a German agency as its knowledge partner. An environment ministry official said the data from the last 10 years will be analyzed to prepare a plan for the next 10 years on air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, transport issues, air conditioning, heat islands, and agriculture patterns.

Delhi submitted its previous action plan in 2019 which expired in 2020, in response to the Union government’s 2009 directive to the states to prepare their own climate action plans. This was under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). In the recent past, Delhi has broken several previous weather records, recording the coldest day since 1901 on Dec 30, 2019.
