Indian Power Ministry notifies Green Hydrogen policy.

Conversation around Green Hydrogen policy began from last year’s independence day speech of the PM, and now the Indian power ministry has put out its green hydrogen policy. While addressing the nation on August 15, 2021, Mr Modi announced that the green hydrogen policy would be rolled out across the nation, which is part of the mission to cut down India's greenhouse gas emissions. The policy includes preferential treatment for green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturers regarding the procurement of power supply from renewable sources of energy and trade licenses. They will also get an interstate transmission waiver for the next 25 years for all the companies that set up Green Hydrogen/Ammonia facilities before 2025. The government also wants to set up a ‘one stop’ portal for delivering all the services and licenses important to the manufacturers to avoid any procedural days. This is also in line with the ease of doing business motto of the Government of India.  

The Government wants India not only to become self-sufficient in producing green hydrogen in the coming decades but also to become a global hub for its production.
