PM Modi inaugurates National Conference on Climate Change

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the National Conference of Environment Ministers of all the states today via video conferencing. The two-day conference, being held on September 23-24, will have six thematic sessions, including Life, Combating Climate Change (Updating State Action Plans on Climate Change for Mitigation of Emissions and Adaptation to Climate Impacts), and Single Window System.

The focus will be on forestry management, pollution prevention and control, wildlife management, and plastic and waste management. The conference will also emphasize protecting wildlife and restoring degraded land, with a particular emphasis on increasing forest cover.

In his address, PM Modi highlighted the climate action projects initiated by India, such as the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, and the LiFE movement. In addition to making significant advances in the field of renewable energy, the PM noted that India is also serving as an example for other countries around the world. The Prime Minister said, “Today’s new India is moving ahead with new thinking, new approach.”The Prime Minister continued by stating that India's economy is rapidly expanding and that the country is constantly improving its environment. “Our forest cover has increased and wetlands are also expanding rapidly," he added.
