On World Environment Day, the Indian prime minister launched the ‘ LiFE or Lifestyle for the Environment’ movement.
LiFE is aimed at promoting a lifestyle that is sustainable and beneficial for our environment. Prime minister talked about the need of ‘mindful and deliberate’ utilization instead of ‘destructive consumption’. He urged people around the world to make changes in their lifestyle so it’s less damaging to the environment, it will require everyone's efforts, he said. We all need to live by the principle of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’.
The Indian prime minister was introduced to the idea of LiFE during the climate conference (COP26) last year in Glasgow. After its launch, ‘LiFE global call for papers’ has been initiated which invites scientists, scholars and institutions to give ideas and opinions about adopting a climate friendly lifestyle.
“The need for collective global effort to address climate change has never been greater, and India’s role and leadership is crucial to ensure that we reach our climate goals.” said Bill Gates, co-founder Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
