NTPC, India’s largest power generator, along with ONGC and NIIF (National Investment and Infrastructure Fund) will be eyeing green energy development projects, especially in offshore wind energy. India targets 30GW offshore wind energy capacity by 2032 and its coastline is over 7600 km long.
NTPC is aiming to build 60 GW RE (renewable energy) capacity by 2032 which is currently at a total of 4.7GW. NTPC has also planned a budget of Rs. 1 trillion between 2019 and 2024. As part of its diversification strategy, NTPC is looking to leverage hydrogen for transportation by mixing it with natural gas for the City Gas Distribution networks.
