Several global green groups have raised a call to postpone the upcoming COP26 summit to be held in Glasgow later this year.
The call for postponement is backed by arguments concerning the absence and ‘locking out’ of a huge number of developing country delegates due to vaccine inequity and unaffordable accommodation. About 200 heads of state and governments, thousands of delegates, civil society members, and media persons will attend the UN conference on climate change. Tasneem Essop, director of Climate Action Network (CAN), expressed concern about the countries which are left out due to a lack of support from rich nations.
