A former professor-turned-entrepreneur had started off with a polymer brand in 1993. A few years later it turned into a solar business. Gautam Solar soon established its name and had a turnover of 200 crore in 2020. The company today manufactures an array of solar products, from panels, lights, fans, pumps, batteries, and more.
Various government organizations, corporate companies, and individual buyers form its customer base, which provides services from its four factories based in Haridwar with a capacity of 250 MW capacity. They are a successful home-grown company in a challenging market of the solar industry which faces competition from cheap imports from China. They offer a 25-year warranty and compatibility with all their products.
During the pandemic, the world economy realised the reliance of the majority of the world’s manufacturing on China, and how it suffered due to the border restrictions. So, such local businesses’ success stories are a boost to increase India’s manufacturing. Besides that, the paradigm shift taking place in the world of energy, and solar start-ups will see a surge in the future.
