Environment Minister of Delhi, Gopal Rai will head a high-level meeting of departments regarding the latest directions given by the Commission of Air Quality Management to curb air pollution.
The CAQM has ordered for educational institutions and offices to remain closed till further notice, to reduce vehicular emissions. Besides that the thermal power stations have also been reduced in their operational capacity with just five out of the eleven nearby thermal stations being allowed to operate, which fall within 300km radius, till November 30.
Besides rules for civilians, officials from the public works department, NDMC, environment department, education department and municipal corporations were also directed.
Construction activities have been suspended in the Delhi and NCR region. Along with that, railway stations, airports, metro rail corporation services, inter-state bus terminals (ISBTS) and projects of national importance, and defence-related activities are notified to strictly comply with the C&D Waste Management norms and dust control rules.
Trucks that import non-essential goods are forbidden to run on the roads in and near Delhi and NCR. Every winter the air quality takes a deep plunge, but this year it has been the worst ever. India's active participation in the COP26 has made it more essential to it to manage the pollution levels and the carbon output.
