A recent study conducted by the University of Southern California's Centre for Economic and Social Research revealed that persons who got the first COVID vaccination jab showed positive improvements in mental health issues.
The latest research examined the responses of 8,003 people, who were surveyed on a regular basis between 10 March 2020 to 31 March 2021. The results observed an increase in confidence and showed lower mental health discomfort after getting the first dose of covid vaccination.
Dr Jaswant Jangra, Senior resident of Psychiatry at AIIMS New Delhi said that the vaccination undoubtedly benefited the citizens indirectly as a level of assurance was instilled that they won’t get majorly affected by the Coronavirus after the jab.
There was a significant impact on the psychological health of the citizens during the peak of COVID. A survey conducted by the Indian Psychiatry Society observed that around two-fifth of the total population surveyed had reported mental health-related issues.
"Getting the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine resulted in significant improvements in mental health beyond improvement already achieved since mental distress peaked in spring 2020”, the author of the journal said.
