In an attempt to boost the ‘Green India’ vision the International airport of Mumbai has established a vertical axis wind turbine and Solar mill to harness the power generated through renewable sources.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has become the first airport to have this kind of low-carbon setup and will be fulfilling its energy needs from wind power systems.
The officials reported that WindStream Energy Technologies India Pvt Ltd has developed this uniquely designed hybrid renewable energy product which uses both solar and wind energy to generate electricity. The product has a modular design and it is easy to mount it on the mobile or statice rooftop and use the generated energy on the basis of the requirement, officials added.
While highlighting the pilot project’s objective the CSMIA spokesperson said, “This sustainable initiative undertaken by the airport aims in reducing dependence on conventional electricity which propels its journey towards net-zero emissions”.
