As world economies are working persistently on the sustainability goals of cop26 and trying to meet the energy demands, large firms in India are also stepping up their efforts to expand the renewable energy sector.
JSW Energy Limited signed a deal with GE Renewable Energy for the supply of 810 MW of wind turbines to facilitate the company's pipeline of around 2.5 GW of renewable projects in India, which is under-construction. The installation of turbines will begin in 2022 April-June, according to representatives from JSW Energy.
JE Renewables is a leading producer in the wind energy industry and now they are planning to increase their production to cover the electricity demands of about 1.2 million households in India. The foundation is being laid in Tamil Nadu and is the first large-scale project they are pushing for. India has a great potential for wind energy, and they are planning to harness it.
The CEO of JSW , Prashant Jain said that they are targeting to reduce at least 50% of the carbon footprint by 2030 and attaining carbon neutrality by 2050. They will be able to finance 2.2 GW of wind energy in 2 years and the 240 MW Kutehr hydro project Himachal, in about 3 years.
