IPCC scientists to assess carbon removal in the key report

Scientists from UN are set to gather together for weighing up a technology so as to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

The above idea which is one amongst the many alternatives suggested over the coming two weeks by IPCC.

The new study will be the third report issued by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The earlier two reports were about the causes and the outcomes of climate change.

Prof Jim Skea, from Imperial College, London said, “We have a lot more material, this time on carbon dioxide removal, that is, not putting carbon into the atmosphere, but getting it out again.”

The leading author of this report, Dr. Joyashree Roy from Jadhavpur University said, “This chapter looks at the social science perspective of demand, and what motivates individual consumers, communities, businesses, to make responsible consumption, reduction, design and investment choices,”.
