The joint statement argues that the developing nations must be provided with an extended deadline to achieve the net-zero targets as they have already social commitments such as eradicating poverty and other development projects. To bring a balance to the mentioned target the developed nations must to a net-minus by 2050 to mitigate the climate change impacts, the statement added.

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador T.S. Tirumurti submitted a cross-regional joint statement on behalf of India and Bolivia, China, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Mali, Nicaragua, Panama and Syria on the "Global Net-Zero” target to tackle the climate change.

The statement delivered argues that evidently developing countries' carbon emissions will peak later than the developed nations and hence logically the developing parties must also achieve the net-zero target later.
