Earth Overshoot Day shifts back to July 29

According to a report of the Global Footprint Network (GFN), humanity has yet again made use of all the biological resources that the planet Earth regenerates all along a year.

The scenario is of great concern since this is the same date the world reached a couple of years ago in 2019. This implies that the modest gains in humanities ecological footprint obtained from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been lost.

The statement issued said that the foremost reason that caused the date to shift back was the 6.6 per cent of rise in the global carbon footprint in 2020. At present humanities uses 74 per cent more than what the planet Earth regenerates.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) suggested a handful of measures including reducing the food wastage, adapting commercial technologies for buildings and cutting down on transportation.
