Earth on 'Catastrophic' Path, Running Out of Time: UN Report

A new UN report on the global emissions targets states that the planet is heading towards a 2.7 degrees rise in temperature by the end of the century. The UN Secretary-General termed the situation as ‘catastrophic.’ According to the report, there will be a 16% increase in global emissions by 2030 in comparison to the 2010 level, this will lead to a warming of 2.7 degrees above the pre-industrial levels before the year 2100.

He also urged all nations to set out more ambitious climate targets, known as NDCs, to make the 1.5 degrees goal more realistic.
