The Vice Chairman of the Delhi government’s Dialogue and Development Commission, Jasmine Shah, told Bloomberg that the climate action strategy entails the electrification of 80% of public buses in Delhi by 2025. She further added that more charging points will be set up across the city and one-fourth of its power supply will be generated through solar energy.

Recently, a report by the State of Global Air Initiative of the Health Effects Institute (HEI) revealed that the air quality in Delhi is the worst compared to more than 7,000 cities across the globe. Jasmine highlighted the same and said that Delhi regularly tops the global pollution charts and the goal is to bring a change and tackle this problem.

Apart from the electrification of the road transport, the strategic plan will focus on stubble management, dust pollution, open burning of garbage, and industrial pollution. The plan will focus on controlling air pollution by installing smog towers, promoting plantations, and eco-farming in collaboration with the joint states.
