The first ‘smog tower’ has been installed in the capital, New Delhi. The 82 feet high tower will pump 1,000 cubic meters of air per second through it and reduce the amount of harmful particulate matter by half.
The tower will cover a radius of one square kilometre. New Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called the first tower being looked at in an ‘experimental way.’
He added that this was a start in New Delhi’s fight against air pollution and high smog level, especially during the winter months and post analysing data, more towers will be erected across the capital city, The tower costs roughly $2 million, and some experts are calling it ‘ineffective and an absolute waste.’
