PM Modi will visit Glasgow to attend the COP 26 summit

India confirmed that Prime minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the crucial COP 26 summit to be held in Glasgow from 31 October. The news came after the delegations from the US, UK and European Union recently visited Delhi to discuss India’s climate action goals.

The sources mentioned that PM Modi is expected to launch the ‘One Sun One world One Grid’(OSOWOG) initiative with the British PM Boris Johnson in the presence of leaders from 124 nations.

India recently confirmed at UNGA that it’s perhaps the only nation among G20 to be on track in achieving the Paris Agreement of keeping the global temperature under 2 degrees Celsius but yet to commit to the Net-Zero target.

The decision by the Indian government to attend the significant U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP26) is a positive attempt to specify its climate action commitments and major advancements are expected from this crucial meeting.
