On the account of Mental Health Awareness Day, Snapchat has introduced a new initiative called ‘club unity’ to raise awareness on mental health issues. The social media giant has collaborated with a range of celebrities to engage user attention.
The spike in social media usage during the COVID pandemic has also pointed out some significant drawbacks too. Recent studies have found that online bullying, self-comparison, trolling, blackmailing could trigger major threats to the mental health of teenagers.
To fight this issue the ‘Club unity’ will invite celebrities from different backgrounds to talk about their mental health problems openly. The motive is to urge the users to initiate difficult conversations too & seek support to combat mental health illness.
Snapchat stated that the project will focus on the mental health & well-being of the LGBTQ+ & BIPOC community considering the current scenario.
