Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca based ‘Oxygen’ is Romania's first integrated communications agency to offset its carbon footprint and become carbon-neutral. The agency also launched a brand-new division that offers businesses strategic advice and communication services on sustainability. These projects are a part of Oxygen's commitment to aid businesses in their quest for sustainability and to combat climate change.
The agency achieved carbon neutrality through a thorough process by collaborating with CSR Nest and ECONOS, a consulting agency specializing in reducing carbon footprints. The process was completed by calculating the carbon emissions related to the agency’s activities in 2021 and offsetting them by purchasing carbon credits from the voluntary market, as well as implementing a series of green initiatives.
Oxygen is currently implementing a series of agency-wide initiatives for carbon monitoring and reduction: improving waste separation, optimizing utility consumption (energy, gas, water, fuel), building an internal decalogue for employees to reduce their carbon footprint, and developing an easy, standardized internal collection process for carbon footprints. The organization will continue the afforestation effort it began earlier this year to widen its impact.
