The Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) chairman Ashok Kumar Ghosh announced that the state will successfully achieve the net-zero carbon emission target by 2040. He highlighted that Bihar’s state has been proactive and made some significant progress in achieving the set goal.
The announcement by the minister came during a meeting held on Wednesday to review the policies and steps taken by the state to achieve carbon neutrality. In order to achieve the mentioned target, the BSPCB signed an MoU with the United Nations Environment Programme last year in February to develop climate-resilient strategies and projects to lower the carbon emissions in the state.
The meeting’s agenda was focused on the ‘Climate Resilient and Low Carbon Development Pathways’ and all the consultants involved in the formulation of the climate action policies and projects were also present in the review meeting
The BSPCB chairman addressed the attendees and said, “We have organised this meet with the vision to bring all the stakeholders’ departments under the same roof to get their strategic guidance and inputs on the analysis so far conducted by the partner organisations”.
