Bengaluru partnered with Google to improve its traffic management system

Bengaluru has become the first city in India to formally tie-up with Google to improve the traffic management system. The capital of Karnataka, also known as the Silicon Valley of India, is known for its traffic woes and narrow roads that often lead to traffic jams. Bengaluru Traffic Police will now use Google's artificial intelligence to solve this problem. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy made this announcement through a social media post.

Reddy acknowledged that managing traffic in Bangalore was a "huge task". He further added that the pilot project with Google will help in optimizing traffic light configuration. This has already reduced the signal waiting time for passengers, "Reddy said. As per the data provided by Google, this has resulted in an average 20 per cent reduction in waiting time for commuters on the road. Reddy emphasised that traffic jams will also be avoided. This will reduce congestion, wait time, fuel consumption, road rage, and greenhouse gas emissions, he said.
