On 21st February 2022, a climate change outreach program – “Building a Climate-resilient Gujarat” was organized by the Climate Change Department at Science City in Ahmedabad.
Various schemes and aid were announced as well MoUs were executed.
A grant of Rs. 1 crore 50 lakh by the Climate Change Department was announced for establishing a Centre of Excellence at Gujarat University in the state. Solar rooftop systems were inaugurated on Science Museum, Medical College, and Polytechnic buildings. Assistance for setting up of biogas plant at Gaushala-Panjrapol was distributed as well as incentive amount for the collection of plastic waste was distributed.
MoUs were also executed by the Climate Change Department with national as well as international organizations which include UNICEF, EU, ICLEI, IIM-Ahmedabad, IIT-Gandhinagar, MS University, Ahmedabad University, PDPU, Science City, Technical Education, Primary Education, Higher Education, Navsari Krishi University, Suzlon Gujarat Wind Park Limited.
Six different documentaries on the subject were released with the aim of spreading awareness about climate change under the Climate Change Program. Simultaneously, a webinar was launched for children with the aim of imparting a scientific understanding of climate change.
