The app will monitor the step counts & record the daily eating habits through a wrist-wear device to assess the progress and gift points that will unlock rewards like gym passes, food, apparel and cinema vouchers. Personalised health reminders such as advising a healthy diet, increasing step-count, reducing portion size would also be an interesting addition.

HeadUp systems have acquired the contract from the Department of Health & Social care to develop the new app which will be launched next year in January 2022 for a pilot program.

“The government is committed to helping people lead healthier, happier lives by making it easier for people to make healthy choices.”, Sajid Javid, Health and Social Care Secretary said.

Financial incentives are a great initiative to motivate citizens to make healthy changes in their lifestyle and the interesting take by the UK government is definitely something to watch out for.
