7th BRICS Environment Ministerial Meet Adopts New Delhi Statement

The 7th BRICS Environment Ministerial Meet commenced at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, chaired by India on Friday, 27th August 2021. The highlight of the Meet was implementation of the Delhi Statement along with other discussions.

It talks of furthering the spirit of Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation & Consensus in the Environment among BRICS. Many other environmental concerns were also highlighted like Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy, Plastic accumulation near oceans, Air Pollution &, Conservation and sustainable use of Biodiversity, Green Cover Management, Forest Fires, and others were covered under the New Delhi statement.

MoEF Minister Bhupender Yadav headed the 7th BRICS Environment event. He talked about the upcoming UNFCCC CoP-26 in November and how the world including India are on its mark to adapt its policies. He emphasized India’s efforts toward developing Renewable energy resources and the need of pushing the private sector to sustainability and environmental restoration.
