UP and Rajasthan's temperature levels could rise up to 51°C by 2100

A report published in the Communications Earth and Environment Journal highlighted that temperatures can go up to 51 degrees Celsius or even above in UP, Rajasthan, and Gujarat due to rising global warming. These states may face severe summer days for weeks or even months, and humidity levels will skyrocket.

The report states that this situation will arise if global efforts fail to limit temperature under two degrees Celsius by the year 2100. There may be a spell of extreme heat days of up to 100 days in UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan by the year 2050 and up to 150 days by the year 2100, it adds.

Harvard University postdoctoral researcher Vargas Zepatello said that India is a hotspot for such extreme summer weather. The heat in March-April this year reached extreme levels. Vargas Zepatello and his team of researchers have predicted temperature levels until 2050 and 2100. They have analyzed data on temperature, climate, population, economic development, and carbon intensity over the past decades.
