Trials of 5G smart city solutions begin in Pune; powered by Vodafone India and L&T

Vodafone Idea has collaborated with construction giant Larsen and Toubro in starting the trials of a 5G-based smart city plan for Pune. It will be part of the 5G trials on the government-installed 5G spectrum.

The collaboration will include testing and validating 5G cases built on Internet of Things (IoT), Video AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies. L&T's Smart City plan will facilitate solving the challenges of urbanisation, security and upgrade the standard of living of the citizens.

The government has agreed upon allocation of 26GHz of network and 3.5 GHz spectrum in the mmWave band for their 5G network trials and use cases. 5G has been acclaimed for its high speed and efficiency in regulating a network of surveillance and broadcasting, thus its ability to establish a well connected system in a city.

Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Vodafone Idea, Abhijit Kishore said in a statement.5G is not just a faster network, but it has the capability of developing strong local networks required for traffic monitoring, security and other government tools.
