Tata Power to install 200MW solar project in Rajasthan by March 2024

Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd (TPSSL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Company Limited (TPTCL) to develop a 200 MW solar project in Rajasthan, India. The project is expected to be commissioned by March 2024.

The Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan is the proposed location for the solar project. The project is expected to generate approximately 525 million units of electricity per year. The project will be developed by TPSSL, and the power generated will be sold to TPTCL.

The project is part of Tata Power's strategy to expand its portfolio in the renewable energy sector and support the Indian government's goal of achieving 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022. The company aims to achieve 35-40% of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources by 2025.

The solar project will also contribute to reducing India's carbon footprint and help in achieving its target of reducing the emission intensity of its GDP by 33-35% by 2030, as part of its commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The project is expected to create job opportunities for the local community during the construction and operation phases. It will also contribute to the socio-economic development of the region by providing a source of clean energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Tata Power has been a leading player in the Indian power sector for over a century. The company has been actively investing in renewable energy and has a total installed capacity of 3.9 GW of renewable energy, including solar and wind. The company has set a target to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2025.
