On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested the world to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle. He further emphasized that everyone has to adapt to save the earth and every individual must try at their level. He further highlighted that Mahatma Gandhi also used to talk about a zero-carbon lifestyle and insisted on adopting it.
PM Modi on Sunday in a virtual event launched the LIFE (Life for the Environment) Global Mission to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle. On this occasion, the head of the World Bank, including Microsoft's founder Bill Gates, representatives of global agencies working on sustainable development at the global level, and representatives of a large number of countries of the world were also present.
While mentioning India’s climate action targets he announced that India have already achieved the target of 10 per cent blending of ethanol in petrol five months back. Due to this, about 27 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions have been reduced in the environment. The forest area is also increasing. Wildlife is also increasing. There has been a significant increase in the number of tigers and lions, he added. The PM said that life movement is to live a lifestyle that is in harmony with our planet and does not harm it. Those living such a lifestyle are called "pro-planet people".
