Hosted by different countries each year, Environment Day has become an event that is used to spread awareness, launch various campaigns big and small and express gratitude towards our planet and its biodiversity. The 45th year was hosted by India with the theme ‘beat plastic pollution', it also kickstarted the UN’s decade of biodiversity conservation from 2021 to 2030 aimed at reviving biodiversity from farmlands to forests and seas.

This year, as the event enters its 50th year of celebration, the world is troubled by a myriad of environmental issues. This Environment Day is being hosted by Sweden with the theme ‘ only one earth’, which focuses on living sustainably and in harmony with nature.
