GoodEnough Energy announced plans to launch India's inaugural battery energy storage gigafactory in Jammu and Kashmir by October.
This facility seeks to decrease around 5 million tonnes of carbon emissions yearly, in line with India's goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2070. With an initial expenditure of 1.5 billion rupees ($18.07 million), GoodEnough intends to increase the facility's capacity from 7 to 20 gigawatts per hour (GWH) by 2027, totaling 3 billion rupees.
The effort is critical to India's goal of expanding renewable energy capacity to 500 gigawatts (GW) by 2030. To promote such projects, the Indian government is offering $452 million in incentives. Battery energy storage enables the storage and utilisation of energy provided by renewable sources such as solar and wind, contributing to a sustainable energy ecology.
