The global desire to reduce carbon emissions has resulted in the development of solar power plants as a sustainable alternative to polluting energy sources, and one such is the world’s largest solar plant going to be built in India.
Bhadla Solar Park, in Rajasthan, India, is the world's largest solar park, powering over 1.3 million households and creating over 2,000 employees. The multibillion-dollar park, valued at USD 1.4 billion, includes 10 million solar panels with a combined power of 2245 MW. The 18-month project was completed as part of India's commitment to renewable energy and climate change mitigation.
The park is being built near Bhadla village, 220 kilometers from Jodhpur, as part of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) project. The park is located in a desert environment with little rainfall and high room temperatures, making it perfect for solar energy generation.
The park seeks to cut carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 15 million tonnes during its lifetime. Rajasthan's sunny atmosphere, as well as the state's renewable energy legislation, help to ensure project success. The park, being one of the world's largest solar photovoltaic parks, highlights India's commitment to renewable energy and lowering its carbon footprint.
