Indian governments notified Green Energy Open Access rules on the 6th of June, it is aimed at streamlining the distribution and increasing the scope of demand.
With the new rules now in place renewable energy supply and distribution will become more accessible and transparent. Consumers that have a limit of more than 10kWh can demand renewable energy from their power supplier, earlier the limit was 1MW. The price of the electricity will be decided based on various factors like the purchase cost of renewable energy, subsidies and the cost that the distribution and transmission will incur.
Consumers will get certificates if they choose the renewable energy option, it will make consumers the stakeholders in India’s mission of reducing fossil fuels by 50% and growing renewable energy capacity to 400MW by the year 2030. Many extra charges will be waived off if the power demand is for the production of green hydrogen or green ammonia.
