In an attempt to minimize the use of plastic in the packaging, Godrej appliances have announced that the company has filed for a patent for eco-friendly packaging. Godrej Appliances is planning to replace Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPS) which is known as thermocol with paper-based honeycomb (HC) packaging solutions.
The statement issued by the company highlighted that EPS packaging is harmful to the environment as it produces about 4.2 kg of Co2 per product. The newly developed paper-based packaging solution generates about 1kg of carbon emission per product. With this change, the electrical giant aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 50 percent through sustainable product packaging.
The company has filed for the patent of the eco-friendly packaging solution which curtails the carbon footprint from refrigerator packaging by 50 percent with the use of sustainable packaging.
