The seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the fact that the Pakistan government has had to declare a national emergency in the past. According to Pakistani news channel Geo News, many districts have been flooded due to the rains since June 14, 2022. Due to this, about 1,033 people have died so far. and more than 1500 people have been injured.

Climate change is believed to be the reason for this devastation in Pakistan. This year, rainfall has broken all the past records in the region and has created havoc.  Researchers believe that due to heatwaves, continuous fire in the forest and the melting of glaciers, this time the monsoon turned apocalyptic. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that there may be more rain till September, and the situation is expected to get worse.

In the last 24 hours, 119 people have lost their lives, while 71 have been reported injured. In this 24-hour figure, the maximum death has occurred in Sindh province. According to Pakistani government sources, a total of 9,49,858 houses in Pakistan have been partially or completely destroyed. Floods have also worsened the nation’s economy as at least 3,451.5 km of roads and 149 bridges have been destroyed across the country. Apart from this, there is also information about the breakdown of six dams.
