Exxon Mobil Corp, an American multinational oil and gas corporation has announced that it will cut down the carbon emissions within its global operations and will achieve the net-zero target by 2050.
Darren Woods, Exxon’s Chief Executive Officer in a statement added that the firm is developing a comprehensive roadmap to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions from its operating assets around the world.
The company has made some promising efforts in mitigating carbon emissions as over the past six years to address the climate change effects Exxon injected 15 billion dollars into sustainable and eco-friendly projects. Last year in December, Exxon planned to reach the net-zero GHG emissions goal in its U.S Permian Basin shale field by 2030.
The statement issued by the company also highlighted that to keep on expanding its oil and gas output Exxon aims to invest in projects which are working towards mitigating the carbon emissions such as technologies that are not presently commercial but are effective in capturing and storing the carbon, hydrogen power and producing biofuels from algae.
