This year’s Earth Hour, the 18th annual event, saw millions of people around the world come together to support and celebrate our planet.
More than 1.4 million hours were provided by supporters from over 180 nations and territories, making this year's Earth Hour the most successful yet. Key public figures included UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Kenyan Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, Colombian actor and influencer Sebastian Villalobos, Hollywood actress Kate Walsh, Bollywood actress Ananya Panday, Chinese actor Zhu Yilong, former Cameroonian professional footballer Roger Milla, world-renowned table tennis Olympian Deng Yaping, Paris Saint-Germain
Through its Hour Bank, an interactive online platform that attempts to make environmentalism accessible, exciting, and personally meaningful, Earth Hour invites everyone to get together and find enjoyable ways to 'give an hour for Earth'. Out of the 1.4 million hours, people gave over 2,08,000 hours to reconnect with nature through fitness, outdoors, and arts, 2,48,000 hours to restore the environment through food and sustainability, 7,03,000 hours to learn more about the planet through education, 2,61,000 hours to inspire others, and nearly 45,000 hours to other creative ways to care for our planet.
