UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, Patricia Espinosa urged countries to not push back on the climate change agenda as the world cannot anymore afford that. The COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland outlined major aspects of how the Paris Climate Agreement will be acted out, mitigation, adaptation, support - particularly finance - and loss and damage aspects of it. At COP27, which is taking place against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and climate concerns, countries are expected to work on the implementation part of the agenda.

"COP27 in Egypt needs to focus on implementation. There, nations must show how they will, through legislation, policies and programs, and throughout all jurisdictions and sectors, begin putting the Paris Agreement into practice in their home countries," the UN's top climate change official said.
