The project won the Terra Carta design award for its product design along with four others who showcased their product. The award function was organized in association with the Royal College of Art in the United Kingdom and is part of the Prince of Wales’ Sustainable Markets Initiative to promote innovative ideas to combat climate change.

During the process of digestion, cows' burp emits methane gas and as per the available data methane emissions play a significant contribution to climate change. The innovative solution is to curb this GHG contribution from cattle farming. Zero emissions livestock project (ZELP) highlighted that the mask captures methane gas with each burp and estimates that it can reduce methane emissions by 50%.
