Sustainable e-waste management to be organised in Prayagraj

The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has embarked on a pioneering endeavor to build a sustainable approach in response to the rising difficulty of electronic trash (e-waste) management in Sangam City due to rapid urbanization.

Because of the increasing generation of e-waste, PMC sought an end-to-end service provider for the entire handling of electronic waste within the city.

PMC officials have issued an invitation for 'expressions of interest' (EOI) from professional firms interested in taking on the responsibility of e-waste collection, transportation, processing, and subsequent reuse or scientific disposal. This program is consistent with PMC's commitment to achieving the goals of the 'Swachh Bharat Mission,' notably 100% scientific waste processing.

As part of the project, PMC is looking for a firm with prior experience in waste management on a modest, yet effective and self-sustaining scale. The selected firm's responsibilities include electronic waste management in residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial regions, as well as the secondary transfer station in Prayagraj.

Interested parties, including operators and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), are encouraged to submit their organizational profiles, suggested solutions, and required paperwork by December 5, 2023. PMC expects to finalize the firm's decision by the end of the year, marking an important step toward addressing Sangam City's growing e-waste problem.

Aside from the operational components, the selected firm will be responsible for the civil construction of treatment/processing facilities, operationalization utilizing appropriate technology, and undertaking Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities. These education campaigns try to influence citizens' behavior by advocating the separation of e-waste at the source. The firm is also tasked with obtaining the necessary permissions and approvals from the appropriate authorities for the proposed processes and machinery to be used at the plant.

In summary, this comprehensive strategy demonstrates PMC's dedication to supporting sustainable waste management methods, promoting environmental responsibility, and accomplishing the broader goals of national cleaning efforts.
