The climate action plan of the state is still focused to prepare for drought. In such a situation, the flood situation in the state is getting worse. The flood situation in Rajasthan has changed a lot in the last two decades, but in the last three decades, the trend of flooding has seen an increase.

Following Australia's Black Summer fire disaster, the Royal Commission pointed to the urgent need to improve disaster management capabilities. This time the flood situation is prevailing in the western, southern and eastern districts of Rajasthan.  On the increasing floods in Rajasthan, if we analyze the district-level data related to rainfall in the last three decades, done by the Meteorological Department, it is found that during this period there has been a rapid increase in the number of days of heavy rains.

An analysis done on district-level rainfall data of the Meteorological Department (1989-2018) during the last three decades shows that in the southern Rajasthan region, “heavy rainfall days” (rainfall of more than 6.5 cm in a day was observed in the affected areas. There has been a rapid increase in rainfall which was not usual in the past.
